ROUND 3

The third & final round of the Area 2 season was held in March at the new Blackpool Club.
As expected Paul Shepherd & Martin Ellis dominated qualifying which Paul converted into 3 wins in the Finals. However numerous drivers on the track for the first time on the day performed well. Ian Fitzpatrick most noticeably taking 3rd spot in F1 & showing some of the old form that once made him TQ at the Nats. Pete Clarkson in his first full season back area racing for many years also had 2 top 4 places on the day to take 2 top 3 championship spots.
Production was won by Wayne Hawkins just making his return to racing since the 80's when he was the last National Junior Champion - he could be the one to beat at the Nationals!

Talking of which the Area greatly looks forward to welcoming racers from around the country for the 1st 1/32nd Nationals to be held here in 12 years.

ROUND 2

With the demise of the Pirelli club Area 2 racers were particularly grateful to the Bolton club for allowing us to hold our 2nd area round of the year on their club track. Given that their members generally do not race open class cars at all this was particularly good of them as they have no direct interest in the racing.
Making her first appearance of the season, Elizabeth Fitzpatrick held off Janet Sargent to win the Clubladies (!) class.
Paul Shepherd & Martin Ellis were the class of the field. Paul won the Saloon Final by 5 laps from Martin.
Paul looked set to continue his winning run in F1 when he TQ'd by nearly 3 laps in 3 mins. over Martin in 2nd. However Paul's gears failed in the semis leaving Martin to an easy final victory. Ian Fitzpatrick, doing his first serious racing for a year won a 2nd place scrap with Norman Fawcett to show the old touch is still there.
In Sports Paul & Martin were 10 laps clear of the pack in the 8 min segmented race with Paul just winning by 70 feet.
The 12 racers that took part all seemed to have a very enjoyable days racing.

ROUND 1

The first area 2 round was held at Fylde on Sunday 13th December 2009.
A total of 12 people took part although the Siddall's could only stay for saloon and Norman Fawcett was the only out of town competitor. A friendly & competitive day's racing was had by all with nobody dominating through the classes resulting in 4 different winners. Janet Sargent won Production, Pete Clarkson Saloon, Paul Shepherd F1 & Steve Sargent Sports.
The 2010 rounds are to be held are Bolton Feb 14th & Blackpool Mar 14th
