Production
The first Nationals class was production, run on Saturday morning. This class is for clubman grade drivers using Falcon powered production chassis. Following the best presented body judging, it was race time. The format is 4 segmented 3 minute runs, all to count followed by reseeding and a second set of runs on the other 4 lanes.

Dudley's Martin Jackson was comfortably fastest in the first runs, he didn't complete his second set of runs already being assured of top qualifying spot. Christopher Aldridge (not to be confused with his dad Chris) was second fastest, ahead of Simon Francis. Some of the younger drivers, including Christopher drove standing on a chair to give them as clear a view of the track as the older (taller) competitors. The drivers who made the biggest improvements on their second runs were Andy Wharton, (taking time off from organising the HO racing) qualifying 4th just ahead of an even larger improvement from Ernest Danyi.
The final was a segmented race with 2 minutes on each of the 8 lanes. Martin Jackson was clearly quickest and took the championship ahead of a close fought field. The story of the pursing pack was one of constantly changing fortunes, partly due to the different lane and partly due to - for want of a better description - changing fortunes. Simon Francis was last for the early part of the race (having started on red) and only towards the end did he overtake Christopher for second place.

Above the finalists Andy Wharton (FLBT club); Martin Jackson (Dudley); Chris Aldridge (Leicester); Malcolm Avison and Jody Symonds (Roedale); Christopher Aldridge (Leicester); Simon Francis (Bournemouth)
