2003 The 40th Nationals Raceway UK, Wildfields May 3-5 |

| The 40th Nationals was as excellent meeting.
Congratulations to the winners, particularly the many first time
winners.
Terry and Sally Clark made us all very welcome, the catering was much appreciated by all of us. Rob and Ron did a great job on race control - this was probably the main reason we finished considerable earlier each evening than last year, even though the segmented racing introduced in two classes gave considerably more race time than last year. Here's more of the story - many thanks to Pat Skene, Nick Thrower, Stan Kirk and Mark Witham for the photos. Chris Frost |

Saloon Paul Harwood wins the big one! John Brown wins Division 2, Mike Thomson Div 1 |

| Satuday's racing was all saloon.
This class run to the traditional format, all the competitors raced in 4
separate heats with their best two runs counting.. There were separate semis and a final for
Division 2 drivers.
The line up for the Division 2 final is on the right - Pat Skene from Ecurie Barnton (Edinburgh) on red, Merv Hunt from Coulsdon (white), Mike Gibbons Dowty (Gloucester) (green), third place Alan Callaghan Timaru (Margate) (orange), second place Mick Kerr (Wellingborough) (blue), winner John Brown (Newcastle) (yellow), Adam LeMaistre (Wellingborough) (yellow) and Sam Thrower (Luton) (black). It's encouraging to see competitors from all over the UK. Also in the top right of the photo you can see the newly built lap counting equipment being used for the first time. (Photos Pat Skene) |

| The Austin brothers took the "Best
Presented Body" trophy for this Audi TT, painted by Michael and raced by David. It's
even got a full length driver and hand made defused at the rear.
"When I was asked to judge best presented saloon and looked at
that Audi I realised I'd got the easiest job of the week end"
(Mark Witham)

Here are the Division one finalists just before the start (left to right) Mick Kerr, Adam LeMaistre, Wink Hackman, third place Lee Parsons, Doug Paxman, winner Mike Thomson, Graham Woodward, and second place Andy Paxman. Also in this picture race controllers Ron Smith (partly hidden) Rob Lees and Chris Frost. In the foreground on the right is the video camera which was there just in case there was a question over the laps - in fact it was only needed for one race all week end.
