2003 The 40th Nationals Raceway UK, Wildfields May 3-5 Sunday's racing |

Matthew Stewart - the latest driver to take the Production trophy to the Newcastle |
|
| Sunday's racing started with Production. This was the first class
to use the new segmented format. After 2 sets of segmented
heats, the fastest 8 moved on to the segmented final. As the
finalists race in all 8 lanes it is unimportant where you qualify, unlike
the sprint format where lane choice makes a real difference.
The finalists (Left to right) top qualifier and eventually third place David Sargent (slightly out of shot), winner Matthew Stewart, Adam Radford, Alan Callaghan, Sam Thrower, John Brown (getting some lat minute tips from Andy Brown Searle), Mick Kerr, second place Adam LeMaistre (getting some advice from James Cleave). | Adam LeMaistre won best presented body with this
Shadow. He ran it in the first set of heats, leaving it rather less immaculate
then when it started! This photo (which was taken a couple of weeks after
the event) cunningly avoids showing the body splits gained in the racing.

| Matthew Stewart from Newcastle won with this Demon chassis built by
Stuart Strachan. For the 2003/4 season this car will be eligible for
the new super production class, with the lower powered Falcons running in
production.

Grand Prix Harwoods win again - Greg wins after Mark top qualifies Adam LeMaistre wins Division 1 - a clean sweep for Area 6! |
|
| Grand Prix - the top photo tells
you a few things about the event - scale liveries - all the drivers
smiling - tech checking in progress and the start line camera (which as it
happened wasn't needed at all in this class)
Adam LeMaistre won the Division 1 final in an extraordinary finish, deslotting at the final corner and crossing in Dave Coward's lane a few yards in front of Woody! Here's the drivers before the excitement started - (Left to right) Mike Thomson, Wink Hackman, John Brown, second place Graham Woodward, David Austin, winner Adam LeMaistre, Stuart Strachan, and Dave Coward Below - the cars on the grid - scale liveries were required at this meeting - there was a wide variety of colour schemes , so little risk of them all looking the same and confusing the drivers! Don't forget to send in your opinion on the colour scheme rule to George on the Feedback form. .(Photos Nick Thrower |

| Fastest Grand Prix in Grand Prix
qualifying was Mark Harwood. James Cleave was fastest through the
semis, but come the final it was Greg who took the Harwood's second title
of the week end.
Here's the finalists - (Left to right) Mark Harwood, defending champion Brian Saunders, Paul Harwood, second place Charlie Gooding, Lee Parsons (back in premier grade), winner Greg Harwood, James Cleave, and Vince Lee - third place in his first 1/32 National final. Seated to the right is our host Terry Clark taking a keen interest in the racing, while chief race controller Rob Lees stands to introduce the finalists. The finalists cars - again, a variety of liveries - the practical requirement for lane stickers slightly detracting from the appearance. .(Photos Nick Thrower |
