NOTE Points are scored for overall finishing positions.
At each meeting each competitors best two scores are added. This gives the competitors score for that meeting. (so for example a driver finishing 5th, 6th and 7th in the 3 classes would count the scores from the 5th and 6th place 41+39 = 80 points for that round)
In the event of a tie, the competitors take the average points, (so for example two driver finishing joint 4th would receive the average of the points for 4th (43 points) and 5th (41 points) - that is 42 points each)
The number of rounds to count is decided at the beginning of each season.
For the 6 round 2009/10 and subsiquent 1/32 BOC series
Home members are not allowed to compete at their home round
If you hold a home
round, you will count the average of your best 3 rounds.
If you do not hold a
home round, you will count the average of your best 4 rounds.
If competitors have the same number of points, the driver with most wins
finishes ahead, then most seconds etc. If all the positions are identical then
the positions are tied.
For the 1/32 BOC Championship
Also competitors are not allowed to run on the track in the 2 months prior to the meeting (This was changed at the 2005 BSCRA Annual Council Meeting))
In a typical 1/32 BOC meeting on a 4 lane track each driver has two 3 min qualifying heats with the best one to count. The 4 fastest qualifiers go to the A final, the 5th to 8th qualifiers to the B final etc. In the segmented finals the drivers get a 3 min run on each lane with the total distance to count. The final result is decided by the distance covered in the finals. You can win overall (or come last) in any final.
For the 4 round 2004 - 2009 1/24 BOC series the results from each competitors best 3 meetings were added to give the overall position. For the 5 round 2010 1/24 BOC series the results from each competitors best 4 meetings are added to give the overall position. If competitors have the same number of points, the driver with most wins finishes ahead, then most seconds etc. If all the positions are identical then the positions are tied. There is no restriction on home members competing.
In a typical 1/24 BOC meeting on an 8 lane track each driver has a 1 min qualifying run with the fastest lap to count. The 8 fastest qualifiers go to the A final, the 9th to 16th qualifiers to the B final etc. In the segmented finals the drivers get a 3 min run on each lane with the total distance to count. The final result is decided by the distance covered in the finals. You can win overall (or come last) in any final.
During segmented finals there is no limit to what can be done to the cars during the lane change time. However, no work on the cars is permitted on the cars in a final during stoppages of that final for track repairs or stoppages for administrative reasons.
Height Measurements
From the start of the 2008 1/24 BOC, the scrutineers will be using a recessed tech block for body height measurements. This will give consistent measurements regardless of braid adjustment and tyre size. This became part of BSCRA rules for all racing in 2009.
Ground clearance will of course still be measured with a standard tech block.
Alternative motors for 1/24 Production.
The 1/24 Production class at BOC rounds is primarily for Group 12 powered cars, but alternatives are permitted as follows
1 Premier grade drivers must use Group 12 motors in 1/24 Production
2 Non-premier drivers who have not previously raced in the 1/24 BOC with a Group 12 motor since the start of the 2006 season may use a super 16d, Falcon, Contender , Super Wasp or Hornet in 1/24 Saloon. Once they have raced a Group 12 motor in a BOC 1/24 Production round, they may only use a Group 12 motor in that class in future.
Restrictions on the above motors
G12 - as handbook for 1/24 Production
S16D- motor components from various manufacturers - oilites ONLY, no shunts
S Wasp etc. - as handbook for 1/32 super production
Contender - motor components from various manufacturers - oilites ONLY, no shunts
